Over a period of 17 years, Sigvard built up this treasure, which eventually consisted of nearly 6,000 bottles with a market value in today’s prices of almost SEK 30,000,000, where rarities such as Chateau Lafite-Rothschild from 1900, Chateau Pétrus from 1949, and Chateau Margaux from 1878 were housed.

The wine cellar has received several prestigious awards over the years; for instance, Wine Spectator presented the Best of Award of Excellence 11 times between 1995 and 2006. The cellar was also awarded a diploma for Sweden’s finest restaurant wine list by the Swedish Wine Academy in 1997, and the Wine List of the Year award by Munskänkarna in 2004.

In September 2007, a high-profile wine theft occurred when a number of unknown individuals broke into the wine cellar and stole all bottles of value. A large reward has been offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the conviction of the thieves. However, no one has been convicted or arrested for the crime.

Following this, the cellar fell into oblivion, and accessibility for our guests was almost non-existent. The wine cellar has been in a long slumber, and it is now time for us to bring it back to life. Calmly and methodically, we aim to recreate a wine list that interests and attracts, while simultaneously increasing accessibility for guests who wish to experience a fantastic wine cellar filled with history and truly excellent wines. In 2022, our wine list was granted Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence and was also included in the Star Wine List. In 2020, our wine cellar was awarded four “wine clusters” by Munskänkarna, which we view as wonderful recognition that we are on the right track.
